The flexibility of choral tone, range of colors and superb diction set an entirely new standard for me (as well as provided my first introductions to Britten's Hymn to St. Cecilia, Rossini's I Gondolieri and Toast pour le nouvel an, and Schoenberg's Friede Auf Erden). If you have any degree of love for the choral art, these are still the finest single value for your money I can possibly recommend. This recording is absolutely prime. The range of music and styles is most impressive and the performances are wonderous. This set will guarantee you hours of some of the finest choral singing ever recorded. Kudos to Clarion for keeping it in the catalog. Highest possible recommendation. |
