5.0 out of 5 stars Check chain tension before riding!!!!, September 30, 2007

Like some reviews, my 8-year-old son's first E300 only ran about ten minutes per charge and 13mph max speed (yes, I have a radar gun). Troubleshooting sent us toward a dragging brake, but the brake adjustment was fine. The chain, however, was super tight (I'm an old motorcycle racer, so I know a lot about chain tension). I loosened the chain tension, but no improvement, and returned the entire unit. (I suspect either a bad battery or the overly tight chain tension damaged the motor armature.) When the next E300 showed up, I checked the chain immediately out of the box. Again, super tight. I loosened the chain (extra loose for the first run, maybe 3/4" play) and completed the rest of the setup. The unit performed flawlessly. Speed was consistently 17mph and still running strong after 35 minutes (we've only done two test runs so far). Slightly tightened chain tension to about 1/2" after first run. Also, as noted by another reader, we looked everywhere for the rear tire inflater... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Razor E300 Great Buy, September 30, 2008
I read every review before buying scooter. With some hesitation, i proceeded with the purchase. What a great gift for a 10 year old boy. I opened it up the day before his birthday, checked the chain tension, charged it overnight / per instructions, and surprised my son with it the next morning. My son is 80 pounds and this thing screamed for what seemed to be more than 45 minutes with all his friends jumping on that morning to take a lap around the block. Some of the lighter kids were making me a little nervous as they we going pretty fast. We also have a steep driveway, only 15 yards long, but he makes it up no problem.

I, weighing 180 pounds, have taken it out for a spin. On flat surfaces it moves along fine though with some incline, I can see how this might get a lower than perfect review. On a full charge, and some momentum I can make it up the driveway as well.

I guess if you are an adult looking for a scooter, go with a Go-Ped or Segway.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good product., July 9, 2007
I have really enjoyed riding this scooter to work which is one mile away. I take back roads since this vehicle is not allowed on public sidewalks or streets. I always walk it across the main busy street.

The scooter works as advertised. It has good pick-up on flats. It seems to stuggle just a little on any incline. I'm 154 lbs. Everyone who has ridden it has loved it. The chain drive is relatively quiet. It has great gas mileage...like none. I haven't ridden it straight to see how long the battery would last. I've been able to get back and forth to work twice (1 mile each way) before I noticed a decrease in power. However, the low battery light didn't come on so I'm not sure if the power decline was because I was going up-hill.

One thing that is hokey is that you cannot lock the handle in the down position. A screw unlocks it so you can fold it down, but it is not convenient to carry since there is no way to lock it down. bad design.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great addition to your Star Wars collection, October 1, 2011
= Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: LEGO Star Wars Super Star Destroyer 10221 (Toy)
I've built mine and I love it like crazy. It's definitely not for kids or even really playing with, but it's second to none for the adult who wants a grand centerpiece for their Star Wars collection.

I have to disagree with the first reviewer who said it didn't look right. I've seen the movies countless times and I also have various models of the same ship and it looks fantastic. This bears repeating since it's obviously the set's best quality, when the ship is completed and sitting on the table in front of you it is truly HUGE!

Building it varied from fun to tedious to frustrating, but this may be because it's the first Lego set I've put together. The instruction manual, which was pretty easy to follow, is bigger than many coffee table books and is impressive in it's own right. I'd say it took a total of 16 hours to complete. There's a feeling of pride and childlike giddiness that comes when you stand looking at the finished product. I've got a friend who has... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Love this, but the prices from resellers here are a ripoff, November 18, 2011

I'm a LEGO nut. I don't care that this is totally gray. Have you seen the movies? Yeah, gray there too. Well, okay, it was dark gray, almost black, but whatever. Anyway, this looks great put together and on display. Loved assembling it. However, don't buy this from the goofy resellers here for more than $399.

Exclusive releases from LEGO are traditionally limited in quantities you can purchase. Basically, whether you are an individual or a reseller, you can purchase no more than 5 per household/business. Always check the prices of any lego product at[...]. This one is $399 at [...]

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun to Build, Fun to Admire, March 4, 2012

I purchased the Super Star Destroyer because I can't resist Lego's high-end sets, especially ones that will be expensive/hard to find once they are discontinued. In brief, this is a beautiful set that features impressive build techniques.

- It's not for play but as long as you aren't hurling it around, it stays together well. The designers did sacrifice a small amount of rigidity to achieve a clean finish (the outer shell will bend to the touch in places).
- Building process is painless. Some portions are repetitive, but with a model this size even the repetitive parts can be very rewarding as the model comes together.
- The visible underside is highly detailed.

The Star Destroyer is good for kids who have the patience to assemble and the space display it. And for grownups from the "work hard, play hard" school who love Legos, this is a set that belongs in your collection.
